Tales of Texas:  Volume II

Submission Guidelines:
Story should be no more than 5,000 words long and must involve a Texas theme in some way. Authors may submit up to 3 stories for publication consideration.

Deadline for submission – January 31, 2018

$15.00 for members
$25 per ENTRY for non-members

Short Story Contest
First Place Winner will receive $100.
Second Place Winner will receive $75.
Third Place Winner will receive $25.

Writing ContestDetails:

We are seeking submissions of short stories for our second anthology.   This anthology will be a collection of Texas based short stories incorporating a person, place, plant, or critter that is unique to Texas. Rattlesnakes at the beach anyone? Yep, here in Texas.

There will be two phases:

Revision Phase – After the initial submissions are reviewed, those the press wishes to include will be given an opportunity to with an editor in a revision consultation. A deadline will be provided for re-submission based on the revision requests.

Editing and Beta Reading Phase – From stories resubmitted the final decision on which ones to include will be made. Our professional editors will do their magic ensuring the work is ready for the public and our beta readers will give us our initial reviews. Author’s whose stories are selected will receive their contract in this phase.

Authors of stories selected for the anthology will be notified of final publication after all revisions have been made and accepted.

Authors selected will also:

  • Be provided a free copy of the volume
  • Retain all rights to their story for any future or concurrent use. No exclusivity is required or requested.
  • Receive a written critique

HWH Press will use the proceeds of the sale of these anthologies to fund opportunities for our members and other writers to promote themselves, improve their craft, and network.

Through workshops, conferences, and webinars we offer a multitude of opportunities to learn about their craft and gain access to critique groups with excellent participant feedback. The main purpose is to create opportunities to build dynamic careers through networking, as well as, opportunities for author book sales.
